Nadal opens up about Federer and Djokovic: "We can go have dinner together without any problem"
Special guest on the show 'Universo Valdano', Rafael Nadal opened up to journalist Jorge Valdano about his career.
The king of clay spoke about his relationship with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, explaining that the perception of rivalry changes with age:
"I think you go through different phases. When you're younger, you experience it in a much more intense way, then with the years things calm down too, everyone matures.
I believe what's positive is that we've finished our careers and we can go have dinner together without any problem. And that, I think, is something to be proud of.
We had very marked rivalries, but we didn't push them to the extreme. The rivalry stayed on the court. Personal relationships were always based on respect, admiration, and even a certain friendship.
You end up appreciating the people you've experienced all this with for years. Even though they made me suffer on the court, I value what I experienced with them and the fact that I was part of that history."
