Navarro and Kasatkina Advance Smoothly to the Third Round in Montreal

This third day of competition marks the entry of the seeded players into the WTA 1000 in Montreal. In the second round, Emma Navarro faced Rebecca Marino, a wildcard entrant from the tournament organizers.

Starting strong from the outset, the American—who had fallen in her opening match last week in Washington against Maria Sakkari—left no room for hesitation this time.

For the third time in as many meetings, the world No. 11 dominated the Canadian (6-1, 6-2 in 1h02) and advanced to the third round, where she will face either Dayana Yastremska or Camila Osorio.

Another seeded player in action on Tuesday was Daria Kasatkina. The world No. 18 from Russia dispatched Anna Blinkova (6-1, 6-4 in 1h13) and now awaits her opponent in the round of 16, who will be either Marta Kostyuk or Marketa Vondrousova.

In her first tournament appearance since Wimbledon—where she was eliminated by Liudmila Samsonova in the third round—the 28-year-old showed resilience despite committing seven double faults in the match.
