Navarro defeats Swiatek by handing her a 6-0 in the final set in Beijing
Iga Swiatek is eliminated from the Beijing tournament in the round of 16 by Emma Navarro. The Polish player had previously won both matches against the American at the WTA 100 in Charleston in 2018 and at the Australian Open in 2025, where Navarro had never managed to win more than two games in a set.
The match started well for Swiatek, who broke her opponent right away, but she gave the break back immediately. Navarro then took control to lead 4-2 and went on to win the first set 6-4.
Despite being broken in the third game of the second set, Swiatek reversed the momentum and got back into the match, taking the second set 6-4.
But the deciding set was short-lived for the Polish player: Navarro handed her a 6-0, despite many closely contested games. Since the start of the season, the American has won (32) and played (51) more three-set matches than any other player, as highlighted by Opta Ace.
She will face Marta Kostyuk or Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals.
