Nothing goes right for Coco Gauff ahead of defending her US Open title!
It's an understatement to say that Coco Gauff is currently going through a complicated period in her tennis career. Often very nervous on the court, the world No.2 has also been lacking in results since her semi-final at Roland Garros in early June. Disappointing at Wimbledon (beaten in the Round of 16 by Emma Navarro) and then at the Olympic Games (beaten in the 3rd round by Donna Vekic), she has not reassured herself 10 days ahead of the US Open (August 26 - September 08), where she is the defending champion.
The American was beaten right from the start in Cincinnati, where she was also title-holder. She was dominated in just under two hours and three sets (6-4, 2-6, 6-4) by Yulia Putintseva. Last week, she didn't do much on the Toronto courts, winning one match before losing to Diana Shnaider (6-4, 6-1).
She will therefore need to find solutions in the coming days to reverse her current poor form and try to avoid disaster at Flushing Meadows.
