Oh my God, it's insane," Sabalenka stunned by Cincinnati's new venue
260 million euros—that’s the amount spent by the Cincinnati tournament to renovate its site: the Lindner Family Tennis Center. With an increase in the number of courts (from 17 to 31), a new clubhouse, and improved dining options, this Masters 1000 event in Ohio (USA) has made a huge impact, all in less than a year.
The change of scenery has delighted the players, as evidenced by this statement from world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. Back this year to defend her title, the Belarusian was quick to praise the quality of the facilities:
"Oh my God, it's insane. Honestly, when I first arrived here, I wondered what was going on. I asked myself where I was. You know, it took me some time to get comfortable at the old site, and now it feels like we’re at a completely different tournament.
But honestly, I love it. There’s more space. You feel a bit freer, and the locker rooms are bigger. You’re not squeezed next to another player. It’s crazy what they’ve managed to do in just a year. I’m just amazed, and I love it.
