One year ago, Nadal announced his retirement: a moment etched in history

On October 10, 2024, Rafael Nadal announced the end of a legendary career. A heartbreaking announcement, hailed by millions of fans. One year later, the emotion remains intact.

Exactly one year ago, the tennis world experienced a major turning point. Rafael Nadal, then 38 years old, announced his retirement in a video posted on his social media.

News that moved many fans of the 'Bull of Manacor', but also the entire sports world. Nadal officially closed the chapter during the final phase of the Davis Cup in November.

During his 23 years on the professional circuit, the king of clay won 92 titles, including 22 Grand Slams (with 14 French Opens), 36 Masters 1000, and an Olympic gold medal. He also spent 209 weeks at the top of the ATP rankings and won the Davis Cup four times (2004, 2009, 2011, and 2019).

Repeated injuries had taken their toll during his final comeback attempt on the circuit in 2024, leaving him unable to regain his best form, even on clay.
