Open de Caen: Bonzi Withdraws Due to Injury, Halys Replaces Him
From December 14 to 17, the Open de Caen is organizing an exhibition. In Normandy, a good crowd is expected, even though Loïs Boisson had to withdraw from the tournament in recent days. That's not all, as Benjamin Bonzi, initially registered, has also been forced to withdraw.
Injured in his left leg during the quarter-finals of the Brussels tournament against Jiri Lehecka in October, the world number 94 had been selected to participate in the Davis Cup Final 8 with the French team. But a new physical setback prevents him from resuming competition pace before the start of the 2026 season.
Halys Replaces Bonzi in Caen
In Calvados, it will be Quentin Halys who replaces Bonzi. The Frenchman is currently in Bourg-de-Péage where he lost to Raphaël Collignon (6-4, 3-6, 7-5). He will play again this Saturday against Hamad Medjedovic before heading to Caen immediately afterward. A match against Lorenzo Sonego awaits him in the quarter-finals.
"Benjamin Bonzi unfortunately has to withdraw from his participation in the Open de Caen due to an injury. He will be replaced by Quentin Halys. Currently the world number 91, Quentin Halys holds 7 Challenger titles. He notably reached the round of 16 at Roland-Garros in 2025 as well as at Wimbledon in 2024.
In Masters 1000 events, he made his mark by reaching the round of 16 in Miami in 2023. Throughout his career, Halys has recorded notable victories against top players such as Andrey Rublev, Richard Gasquet, Ben Shelton, and Alex De Minaur," can be read on the Open de Caen website.
