Osaka after her title in Saint-Malo: "It's ironic to win my first title since my comeback on my worst surface"
Naomi Osaka claimed victory this Sunday at the WTA 125 in Saint-Malo by defeating Kaja Juvan in the final. This marks the Japanese player's first title since 2021 and the birth of her daughter, as well as the very first clay-court title of her career.
On her X account, she reacted with these words:
"It’s a little ironic to win my first title since coming back on what I thought was my worst surface. But that’s one of the things I love most about life—there’s always room to grow and evolve.
Thank you to everyone who’s been on this journey with me. I know there’s been a lot of turbulence, but it’s also been really fun, and I’m grateful for it."
