Ostapenko joins Swiatek in Stuttgart quarterfinals
Jelena Ostapenko secured the last ticket to the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 in Stuttgart. The Latvian, who had not won two consecutive matches since her final in Doha in February, delivered a high-quality performance to eliminate Emma Navarro.
The two players battled for 2 hours and 20 minutes on the center court, and it was ultimately Ostapenko, with 44 winners (and only 21 unforced errors), who had the final say, winning 7-5, 3-6, 6-2.
This victory will be a boost for the world No. 24, who now faces one of her favorite opponents, Iga Swiatek. Ostapenko leads their head-to-head 5-0 and comfortably won their last meeting in Doha (6-3, 6-1).
This match, along with the other quarterfinals, will be played on Saturday due to Good Friday.
