Paire Returns to Competition in Abidjan After Two-Month Absence
Benoît Paire is back! The Frenchman, now 35 years old and ranked 574th in the world, has not played a single match since February 11, when he lost in the first round of the Manama tournament to Daniel Evans (6-4, 6-7, 6-2).
Dealing with a wrist injury, the former world No. 18 at his peak ranking took the time to recover and will compete next week at the Abidjan Challenger in Côte d'Ivoire to regain his competitive rhythm. For his opening match, Paire will face Daniil Glinka, a 24-year-old Estonian player ranked 422nd in the ATP.
Invited by the organizers, he will attempt to end a streak of four consecutive losses, having not won a match since the Quimper Challenger, where he defeated his compatriot Harold Mayot in three sets at the end of January (6-2, 1-6, 7-6).
