Paired with Tsitsipas, Badosa and Paolini for an exhibition, Kyrgios forced to change teams!
Nick Kyrgios will be making his return to the tennis courts at the World Tennis League, a team exhibition tournament featuring several big names from the ATP and WTA circuits.
Kyrgios, who was part of the "Kites" team featuring Stefanos Tsitsipas, Paula Badosa and Jasmine Paolini, was finally forced to change teams before the competition even began.
The Australian will play for the "Eagles" team, alongside Iga Swiatek, Barbora Krejcikova and Hubert Hurkacz. Casper Ruud goes the other way and joins Tsitsipas' team.
To justify this change, the organizers cited "a mutual decision following consultation between the team captains".
Although we won't know more about this choice, it's certain that Kyrgios' often controversial comments could have weighed in the decision.
The World Tennis League will be played from December 19 to 22 in Abu Dhabi.
