Paolini advances but not satisfied in Miami: "I will have to raise my level of play"

A successful start for Jasmine Paolini in Miami. The 29-year-old Italian player escaped the trap set by Rebecca Sramkova in two sets (6-4, 6-4) and advances to the third round. At this stage, the 6th seed will face Ons Jabeur.
Although qualified, Paolini is aware that if she wants to go far in this tournament, she will have to play better. This is what she stated to Super Tennis shortly after her victory against the Slovakian, ranked 37th in the world.
"It wasn't an easy match, especially at the beginning when I was down 3-0. The conditions here are very different from those in Indian Wells, you have to adapt, the courts are very fast and it's very hot. There was also wind, and it was difficult to serve well, so it was even more important to be as aggressive as possible on the return.
I try not to think about expectations, even the ones I set for myself. I try to focus on myself and remind myself that this is a new year, compared to 2024 which was very successful.
It's not easy, but it's what I try to do every day, even though opponents know me now and I'm no longer a surprise. I love these American tournaments and I love this atmosphere. Indian Wells and Miami are two special tournaments, I always look forward to playing here.
Nevertheless, I know I need to improve my serve first, but I also need to adapt better to the conditions and make fewer mistakes. I will have to raise my level of play," she assured in recent hours.
