We left her in tears during her round-of-16 match at the WTA 1000 Dubai last week. Against Sofia Kenin, Jasmine Paolini, who had just lost the first set, was injured on the third point of the second set.

After receiving medical treatment, the UAE title-holder was able to continue the match, but failed to register a single game afterwards, losing 6-4, 6-0.

After that, she had to withdraw from the doubles tournament she was playing with Sara Errani. A result that dropped her out of the top 5 in singles after a faultless run last year.

A few hours after her defeat, Paolini was optimistic about her state of health, saying that she didn't think her injury was serious.

On her X account (formerly Twitter), the French Open and Wimbledon finalist once again reassured her fans.

"I took a few days off to have my foot checked. I'm feeling much better now! I'm going to get back to training and prepare as best I can for the tournaments in the USA", wrote the WTA's 6th-ranked player on the social network.

The next WTA 1000 of the season will take place on the Californian courts of Indian Wells from March 5.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
