Paolo Lorenzi on Sinner: "He may end up going beyond the Big 3, who knows".
Jannik Sinner was the real boss of 2024. The first ATP Tour player to surpass the 70-win mark in a single season since Andy Murray in 2016, the Italian impressed with his consistency.
He won nine titles, including the ATP Finals, two Grand Slams and three Masters 1000s.
A consistency that has astounded tennis fans. Paolo Lorenzi, a former professional player who reached 33rd in the world, and now director of the Rome Masters 1000, spoke about his compatriot's performances.
He compared Jannik Sinner with the Big 3 of Nadal, Djokovic and Federer: "At the ATP Finals in Turin, nobody managed to play against him for an hour and a half.
Even Taylor Fritz, who plays the best tennis of his career, never gave the impression that he could really cause him problems," he told Super Tennis.
"The Big 3? It's hard to make a comparison, because Jannik is only 23. What impresses me about him is how much he improves every time we see him: he has an increasingly complete set of skills.
Who knows, maybe Jannik will end up surpassing them all. My dream would be for an Italian to complete the Calendar Grand Slam," he concluded.
