Parks and Chwalinska victorious in WTA 125, Bencic a finalist
In this penultimate week of WTA competition, two 125 tournaments were held in Angers and Florianopolis.
In Brazil, Maja Chwalinska came out on top, playing her semi-final and final on Sunday due to rain.
She spent little time on the courts despite these two matches, however, as she defeated Léolia Jeanjean 6-0, 6-3, then Ylena In-Albon in the final with a score of 6-1, 6-2.
On Monday, she reached 125th place, her highest ranking ever.
It was Alycia Parks who triumphed in Angers, in a final won in three sets 7-6, 3-6, 6-0 over Belinda Bencic. Already victorious here in 2022, Parks wins her second title in Angers.
It took her 2 hours 22 minutes to overcome Bencic, former world No. 4. She was able to rely on her serve, with 14 aces, and won 100% of her first serves (7) in the third set.
In the rankings, the American climbed 19 places and returned to the top 100 at 84th. Bencic, meanwhile, moved up 432 places to 481st.
