Pegula jokes: I don't remember the last time I played a match in two sets

Jessica Pegula has been playing suspenseful matches lately. The American still managed to qualify for the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 in Wuhan.

Pegula loves spending time on the court. Indeed, for the sixth consecutive match, the world No. 6 played a three-set match. This was the case against Raducanu (3-6, 7-6, 6-0), Kostyuk (6-3, 6-7, 6-1), Navarro (6-7, 6-2, 6-1), and Noskova (defeat 6-3, 1-6, 7-6) in Beijing, as well as in her first two matches in Wuhan.

Thus, Baptiste (6-4, 4-6, 7-6) and Alexandrova (7-5, 3-6, 6-3) were beaten by the 31-year-old player, also after a decisive third set. To the WTA media, the world No. 6 reacted to this series of very competitive matches.

"I don't remember the last time I played a match in two sets. But I really fought as hard as I could in every match I've played lately, even though it's true that I've played against a lot of very good players.

Today (against Alexandrova), the conditions were different, the roof was closed, and I think we both took some time to adjust. After that, I felt that my level was quite high until the end of the match.

I'm just happy to have been able to go all the way and win this match," Pegula stated. The 31-year-old player will now face Iva Jovic or Katerina Siniakova this Friday, October 10th, for a spot in the semifinals of the WTA 1000 in Wuhan.
