Pegula, Rybakina, Badosa: A Star-Studded Lineup Expected at the WTA 500 Tournament in Washington

Amid the North American swing to prepare for the US Open, the WTA 500 tournament in Washington will, as it does every year, host its event in the American capital. This year, several top players from the women's circuit will be in attendance from July 19 to 27.
Among them is Jessica Pegula. The world No. 3, who won this tournament in 2019, is expected to be the highest-ranked player competing in the 2025 edition. Defending champion Paula Badosa is also confirmed, although the Spaniard is currently working to recover from physical issues.
Emma Navarro and Elena Rybakina, currently ranked 10th and 11th in the WTA, are also expected to participate. Unsurprisingly, American tennis will be well represented, with Pegula and Navarro joined by Amanda Anisimova (who won her first WTA 1000 title in Doha this year), Sofia Kenin (Australian Open champion in 2020), Ashlyn Krueger, McCartney Kessler, and Peyton Stearns.
Diana Shnaider, Clara Tauson, Magdalena Frech, Marta Kostyuk, Anna Kalinskaya, Leylah Fernandez, and Emma Raducanu are also confirmed to compete in the Washington tournament, which was upgraded to the WTA 500 category last year.
