Pegula: "There were times when I didn't want to play tennis anymore".
Jessica Pegula is in the US Open final.
At the age of 30, the world number 6 has finally achieved one of the major goals of any professional tennis player: to contest a Grand Slam final.
Overjoyed after qualifying for the final, the American confided in us about her achievement: "I don't know if I thought it wouldn't happen, but there were times when I didn't want to play tennis anymore.
I didn't really know if I wanted to keep doing it.
I mean, you certainly go through difficult times like that.
I've certainly had a few of those, but I think at the end of it, I was always like, 'Okay, what am I talking about?'
I'd always change the script a bit, and I've always been good at that.
I think that's why I always managed to come back from different challenges even better than before."
