Petkovic Praises Andreeva: "She's a Modern Version of Martina Hingis"
Mirra Andreeva, though known on the WTA tour for two years, truly broke out this season by winning her first two WTA 1000 titles in Dubai and Indian Wells.
At just 17 years old, the Russian seems to have found the keys to building a great career and establishing herself as one of the best players in the world.
In the latest episode of the podcast she hosts alongside Boris Becker, Andrea Petkovic discussed the similarities between Andreeva and Martina Hingis:
"For those who haven’t seen her play yet, she’s a bit like Hingis. In the sense that she has a lot of court intelligence and is an excellent counterpuncher.
She has one of the best passing shots on tour right now. To attack her, you need a lot of courage because her precision is fearsome.
But she’s a modern version of Hingis, which means she can accelerate the pace, especially with her down-the-line backhand that comes out of nowhere.
She’s incredible on defense because she can turn defensive situations into offensive ones. Her serve is also very strong."
