Petrova on Andreeva: She has surprised everyone with her youth and tenacity

Mirra Andreeva has been impressing for several weeks now. The 17-year-old Russian player recently won her first WTA 1000 title at the Dubai tournament and is just one match away from triumphing at Indian Wells.

In California, the world number 11, who will return to the top 10 after the tournament, has notably eliminated Rybakina, Svitolina, and Swiatek. She will now face world number 1 Aryna Sabalenka this Sunday.

Former world number 3 in the mid-2000s and winner of 13 main circuit tournaments, Nadia Petrova shared her thoughts on her young compatriot and predicted a bright future for her.

"I don't see any limits to Andreeva's potential; she has room to grow and develop. Mirra and her team are doing everything right, with competence and rigor. I think her season will be good and interesting.

I want her to become a new star like Maria Sharapova was. Mirra has everything it takes; she can succeed her. She shows great consistency in every match. She has surprised everyone with her youth and tenacity.

To maintain such form, Mirra needs to manage her schedule wisely, distribute her tournaments throughout the year, have training blocks, and allow her body to recover. The most important thing is not to play too many tournaments," she told the media outlet Championnat.

Struggles with injuries and lack of money: the double punishment for tennis players far from the Top 100 stars

A tennis player's income depends solely on his sporting results. In the event of injury, the daily life of those far from the Top 100 can become extremely complicated.

Born almost by accident in an Acapulco garden, padel has in fifty years become a global phenomenon that both fascinates and worries tennis. Its meteoric rise is already reshaping the landscape of racket sports.

As a laboratory for tomorrow’s tennis, does the Next Gen Masters have a future?

Conceived as a bold bet to prepare for the post–Big 3 era, the Next Gen Masters has shaken up the codes of modern tennis. A pioneering, visionary tournament, but now in search of an identity.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
