Petrova: "Sabalenka has the potential to achieve the calendar Grand Slam"
A finalist in three of the four Grand Slam tournaments this year, Aryna Sabalenka has dominated the rest of the WTA tour in 2025.
According to former player Nadia Petrova, the Belarusian could become the next to achieve the calendar Grand Slam, a feat that has not been accomplished since Steffi Graf in 1988.
"She has every chance to achieve it"
"She has every chance to achieve the calendar Grand Slam," Petrova said for Championat.
"She has played with a lot of confidence this season. Yes, there were moments where she collapsed in the final stretch. But she will learn from those moments, it will make her stronger.
Perhaps she will be more serene in certain situations on the court, less stressed. That will allow her not to let these emotions disrupt her game. She has gained confidence this season and she will start the year (2026) with that same confidence capital."
