"Playing a seeded player gave me a little kick in the butt," says Mannarino after his win against Griekspoor

Adrian Mannarino has been finding his form again lately. After dropping out of the Top 100 last January, the Frenchman has turned things around during the grass season and regained positive momentum.
He knocked out the tournament's 29th seed, Tallon Griekspoor, in the first round of the US Open. In comments shared by Tennis Actu, he stated: "Playing a seeded player gave me a little kick in the butt.
When you play a somewhat more manageable match, you tend to play it safe, to be a bit tense. Here, I knew that if I wanted a chance to win, I had to play a really good match.
I went all in from the start. It was one of those good days. It was a solid match from beginning to end; there were just one or two tricky games at the end of the first set, but aside from that, I really managed to play a strong match.
In terms of concentration, it was excellent. I managed to make him work the whole time, and he let up a bit in the third set."
Mannarino will face Jordan Thompson in the next round, who upset Corentin Moutet.
