Popyrin Defeats Ruud, 2024 Finalist, and Reaches Quarterfinals in Monte-Carlo for the First Time

Popyrin won in three sets against Ruud, the 2024 finalist. The Norwegian had already been eliminated at this stage of the competition during the Miami Masters 1000.
The world No. 27 was even down a break in the final set and saved multiple match points. The Australian advances to his first clay-court Masters 1000 quarterfinal.
Popyrin will face Davidovich Fokina in the next round.
