Pouille seriously injured in Lille Challenger final

Pouille seriously injured in Lille Challenger final

The Lille Challenger final between Arthur Bouquier and Lucas Pouille showed great promise. Bouquier started the match very well, winning the first set 6-3.

The second set was tightly contested, and it was Pouille who finally broke first, to serve out and win the set in the process.

Unfortunately, on a Bouquier drop shot, Pouille fell spectacularly. He left the court in a wheelchair.

At the prize-giving ceremony, he declared that he was suffering from a total rupture of his achilles tendon. He added that this could be the last match of his career.

With this performance in Lille, he was on his way back into the top 100. A cruel fate for the Frenchman.
