Pushed in the second set, Swiatek continues her march forward at the US Open

After winning in just over an hour against Arango in the first round (6-1, 6-2), Swiatek seemed to be on the same track in the next round against Lamens (66th).
However, after a one-sided first set (6-1), the Pole was pushed by the Dutch player who leveled the match at one set all (4-6). More impactful on serve, with 68% of points won after the first serve compared to 50% for the world number 2, Lamens also returned much better, creating twice as many break opportunities (3/6 compared to 2/3 for Swiatek).
Nervous on her serves, the 2022 champion pulled through in just over two hours with a score of 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. With 17 wins in her last 18 matches, this was also her 9th consecutive victory in a Grand Slam.
For a spot in the round of 16, she will face the Russian Kalinskaya (29th), whom she recently defeated in the quarterfinals of Cincinnati (6-3, 6-4).
