Py, Pouille's coach: "I'm pretty confident he'll be back".
Lucas Pouille underwent successful surgery on Monday. The Frenchman suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in the final of the Lille Challenger on Sunday.
A spectacular injury which bodes ill for Pouille, who announced at the trophy ceremony that this could be the last match of his career.
Enzo Py, his friend and coach, was optimistic in an interview with L'Équipe: "With the progress of medicine and the skills of the doctor who will be operating on him, I'm fairly confident that he'll be back.
We also have to try and play down the situation. I can't lie, it's a very serious injury, which has an even greater impact in a sport as physical as tennis.
The lower body is put to the test in our sport. It's a frightening injury, but today I'm hopeful that he'll be able to return to play in a few months."
Anyhow, wishing Lucas a speedy recovery.
