The final of the Lille Challenger came to a terrible end on Sunday.
Facing compatriot Arthur Bouquier for the title in northern France, Lucas Pouille, who will be 31 at the end of February, suffered a serious injury.
Forced to retire after totally rupturing his Achilles tendon during the match, the former world No. 10 was in search of his best form and was aiming for a lasting return to the top 100.
Evacuated from the court in a wheelchair, the 2019 Australian Open semi-finalist left his future as a professional tennis player in doubt.
On Monday, however, Lucas Pouille gave us some news.
He has undergone a successful operation in recent hours and shared a photo of himself on social networks with the caption, "Thank you all for your messages, the operation went very well."
Initially entered in the draw for this week's Marseille tournament, Pouille, who was due to face compatriot Benjamin Bonzi, naturally withdrew and was replaced by lucky loser Luca Van Assche.
