Raducanu Defeats Anisimova and Reaches Her First WTA 1000 Quarterfinal

Has the turning point finally arrived for Emma Raducanu? At 23 years old and nearly four years after her US Open triumph, the British player secured a spot in the Miami quarterfinals by defeating Amanda Anisimova (6-1, 6-3).

Though she benefited from Anisimova’s fatigue—the American had finished her match against Andreeva late yesterday at 10 p.m. local time—Raducanu displayed strong form and held her nerve to close out the match.

In her first career WTA 1000 quarterfinal, she will face either Marta Kostyuk or Jessica Pegula. This also marks her first quarterfinal on the tour since the Seoul tournament last September.
