Raducanu Dominates Sakkari and Secures First Semifinal in Washington
Emma Raducanu and Maria Sakkari faced off this Friday in the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 in Washington.
The British player had eliminated Kostyuk and Osaka in her first two rounds, while Sakkari had dismissed Boulter and then Navarro to reach this stage of the competition.
As in their three previous encounters, Raducanu emerged victorious in straight sets (6-4, 7-5), despite being a break down in each set.
After two quarterfinal exits (2022 and 2024), the world No. 46 and 2021 US Open champion has reached the semifinals in Washington for the first time. In her first semifinal on tour in over a year, she will face either Anna Kalinskaya or Clara Tauson.
