Relentless, Medvedev Dominates Zverev and Reaches His 60th Career Semifinal
The Russian clearly enjoys facing Alexander Zverev: he just defeated him for the 5th consecutive time and is making his way to the final four in Beijing. But he will face an opponent who had surprised him in Melbourne earlier this year...
Daniil Medvedev is showing a nice return to form in Beijing. The Russian reached the quarterfinals without dropping a single set, and he continued his momentum this Monday against Alexander Zverev.
Leading in their head-to-head record (13 wins to 7), Medvedev once again confirmed that he enjoys playing the German, winning with a score of 6-3, 6-3 and thus securing a fifth consecutive victory against him.
He notably won 86% of points behind his first serve and saved all four break points he faced.
This commanding victory allows him to advance to the semifinals, the 60th of his career on the ATP Tour. He will have a chance for revenge against Learner Tien, who had beaten him earlier this year in the second round of the Australian Open. Without a title since May 2023, Medvedev will also aim for a second final this season after Halle.
