After a challenging 2025 season, Daniil Medvedev is regaining his form: qualified for the semifinals in Beijing, the former world No. 1 is savoring a convincing victory over Alexander Zverev.
A beginning of a rebirth for Daniil Medvedev? In the midst of a more than complicated 2025 year, the Russian is seeing a glimmer of light after qualifying for the semifinals of the ATP 500 in Beijing.
For the ATP website, the former world No. 1 reacted to his win against Alexander Zverev (6-3, 6-3) this Monday:
"I haven’t been at my best for a while, so I’m happy to be back in the semifinals playing at this level and beating great opponents. […] I played very well, I controlled the match quite well. I felt like I had all the chances on my side.
I think there was only one service game where he put a bit of pressure on me and luckily I managed to get out of it with a great game.
I played the way I wanted today, without making many mistakes, being aggressive when needed, defensive when needed, and running very well. I’m clearly improving and I look forward to continuing to improve."
Medvedev will face Tien tomorrow for a spot in the tournament final.
