Pushed by de Minaur, Sinner Comes Through in 3 Sets in Beijing
Jannik Sinner stepped onto the courts in Beijing with a strong psychological advantage over Alex de Minaur: he led 10-0 in their encounters, with the Australian never having found the key to beating the Italian and having won only one set against him in those 10 matches.
The match started well for Sinner, who managed to break his opponent in the 6th game and took the first set 6-3.
But the Australian didn't let himself be discouraged, as he saved all 4 break points he faced before breaking his opponent at 5-4 to claim the set.
Unfortunately for him, he started the deciding set in the worst possible way by being broken right away. Despite having 3 break-back opportunities in the following game, de Minaur failed to convert them and conceded another break.
The score ran away from the Australian, who ultimately lost 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Sinner now leads 11-0 in their head-to-head matches.
Having qualified for the final, the Italian awaits either Learner Tien or Daniil Medvedev.
