Remembering my Wimbledon run gave me confidence," says Cobolli after Hopman Cup win
Flavio Cobolli returned to the court this Wednesday at the Hopman Cup, following his strong Wimbledon performance where he reached the quarterfinals before falling to Novak Djokovic.
He faced Duje Ajdukovic and secured a 10-6 victory in the super tie-break of the third set. In the post-match press conference, he stated that his strong showing in London had boosted his confidence.
He explained: "I laughed thinking back to the good moments from last week. It lifted my spirits and made me feel more confident on the court.
"Remembering those moments gave me confidence. I really tried to visualize the green court. I’m satisfied—it wasn’t an easy match. Physically, I’m feeling good.
"I’m a bit sore because the surface change is tough, especially after playing on grass and having little time to prepare (the Hopman Cup is played on hard courts).
"I took a few days off and need to get back in shape. But I’m fine—I’m not tired.
"I felt like I struggled during the match because of my opponent. The crowd’s support helped, and it’s always nice to play in Italy.
"The pressure is higher, but the Italian fans are the best in the world. I’m happy to be here, and it’s also thanks to them that I won.
"In Bari, we have everything we need off the court, which allows us to give our best.
