Rinderknech and Bonzi Defeated and Eliminated from the ATP 250 Mallorca Tournament

Two French players were on the courts in Mallorca this Tuesday. In the first round, Benjamin Bonzi faced Brandon Holt, an American qualifier.
Despite a strong start, the Frenchman couldn’t maintain the pace and was ultimately overturned by his opponent (2-6, 6-4, 6-4). Holt advances to the round of 16, where he will face his compatriot Alex Michelsen.
Another Frenchman in the Spanish city later in the day was Arthur Rinderknech. After his hard-fought victory over Damir Dzumhur in the first round, the native of Gassin faced Félix Auger-Aliassime. The Canadian, seeded second, was playing his first match in this year’s Mallorca tournament.
More solid on serve, the world No. 27 got the job done and won in straight sets (7-5, 6-3). Auger-Aliassime will now face Hamad Medjedovic for a spot in the semifinals.
As a result, only one French player remains in contention in Mallorca: Corentin Moutet, who defeated Pedro Martinez on Monday and will play his round of 16 match this Wednesday against Daniel Altmaier. If successful, the 26-year-old could face Ben Shelton in the quarterfinals.
