My goal is to be Top 100 and then retire," announces Tomic

Bernard Tomic, now ranked 248th in the world, hasn’t been making many headlines lately. Absent from the Wimbledon qualifiers due to his ranking, he was, however, able to compete in the qualifying rounds of the Mallorca tournament.
The Australian secured his spot by defeating Jesper de Jong and then Aleksandar Kovacevic. Before facing Rinky Hijikata this Monday, Tomic opened up to Fox Sports.
He stated: "Tennis has been part of my life since I was seven years old. I obviously had a father who pushed me hard, and in a way, that’s how I got here.
Looking at the bigger picture, now that I’m 32, it’s a goal. It still gives me something to strive for.
Without tennis, I don’t know what I’d do. I’m around 200th, and my goal is to break into the top 100... and then I can retire.
It’s more of a personal challenge, so we’ll see if I can do it. It’s the only thing I’m good at. I’ve been good at it for nearly 30 years, so that keeps me motivated.
I can still play decently. I’m not at my best anymore… but that’s why I’m challenging myself to get back there one more time. And then I can retire happy and guilt-free.
