Moutet Defeats Martinez and Advances to the Second Round in Mallorca
Just days after securing the biggest win of his career at Queen's by defeating Taylor Fritz, Corentin Moutet traveled to Mallorca to finalize his grass-court preparations.
In the first round on Monday, he won a hard-fought battle lasting 2 hours and 36 minutes against Pedro Martinez (4-6, 6-3, 6-0). After losing the first set, the Frenchman completely dominated the next two, firing 42 winners and converting six breaks of serve.
He will now compete for a spot in the tournament's quarterfinals against Daniel Altmaier, who defeated Fabio Fognini yesterday in three sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-3).
