Roddick on Alcaraz: "Only Federer, Nadal and Djokovic have known his level of fame".
Andy Roddick appreciates Carlos Alcaraz. The former world No. 1 gave his thoughts on the 21-year-old Spanish player's ever-increasing notoriety, and believes that he will have to make stronger choices in the future.
"I think Carlos is fully aware of what he represents today. He's one of the biggest stars in the world of sport today.
Right now, he's the celebrity among celebrities, wherever he goes. People can't wait to see him, and he's always at a stage where he doesn't want to disappoint anyone.
It's a difficult situation, but he's going to have to learn to say no," he talked about in his podcast.
"There are only three tennis players - Federer, Nadal and Djokovic - who have experienced his level of fame. It's not often you see someone with that level of popularity.
At the end of the season, he was probably tired and wanted to go home, but he doesn't say no to anyone. He must be a bit more selfish. I don't think he can be someone for everyone at the same time."
