Roddick on Andreeva: "She will become world No. 1 at some point"
Mirra Andreeva is in the spotlight after winning her title in Dubai. Andy Roddick, during his Served podcast, spoke about the Russian.
He states: "Andreeva will become world No. 1 at some point.
I've watched her more often this week continuously—because normally, it's during a Grand Slam tournament.
But she serves so much better than what people think of her, and it can only get better.
What worried me was that she doesn't have the physique of a Capriati or a Davenport or a Venus or a Serena.
The only one who comes to mind who wasn't a phenomenon in the very distant past is Hingis.
Will Andreeva be able to create enough pace not to be dominated by Sabalenka or Swiatek? She has beaten both of them.
She is already an elite player, she creates enough pace and what I'm going to talk about, no one does.
Her ability to counteract the moves of other players allows her to make better shots. She doesn't need to be tall to pierce through.
She has options. A tennis IQ beyond her age. Conchita Martinez has done a remarkable job steering the ship. But she serves very well.
I've watched her and wondered why no one is talking about it.
Perhaps it's because she can improve things and she's 30% ahead physically, she's going to become taller, stronger, and faster."
