Having beaten Carlos Alcaraz in four sets yesterday in the quarter-finals, Novak Djokovic once again proved that he's pushing the limits of age.

A result that obviously impressed and was analyzed by Andy Roddick in his Served podcast: "He didn't give Alcaraz any time. When he has time, Alcaraz becomes an artist. But when he doesn't have time, everything is a bit more rushed.

It was like saying to an artist: 'You have 30 minutes to finish your painting'. It's not the best version of what he's capable of doing.

[...] Novak's second serve definitely won him the match. Carlos was very much on the inside of the court and Novak surprised him on second serves on several occasions.

For three hours, I couldn't understand why he didn't back off. He finally did when Novak served at 4-3 in the fourth set and he had break opportunities."

Yes. It was quite apparent he gave away chances to get into rallies on Djoke's second serve until very late in match. Had he done that earlier the outcome could have been different or it may have simply put a few more miles in Djokes legs and put the match beyond him.

I didn't get to see that match. So if that's the case, it's pretty lame that Alcaraz lost because of a simple strategy mistake that his coaches should have easily seen and told him about. Also, everyone knows on every level of tennis, you run the old people as much as possible early.

Is Roddick saying Alcaraz trying to pressure Djokovic's second serve by taking it early wasn't working and he should have backed off on that strategy sooner?

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
