Roddick: "Tsitsipas is a victim of his own shadow

Stefanos Tsitsipas kicked off his 2025 season with a win over Pablo Carreno Busta at the United Cup, before being stunned by world No.78 Alexander Shevchenko.

Now down to 11th in the world, the Greek is looking for a way back into the Top 10.

In the latest episode of his podcast, Andy Roddick spoke of Tsitsipas's areas of improvement for the new season: "He's been very good on clay, but his limits have been exposed on fast surfaces.

He needs to improve his return. He's a pleasure to watch, but unfortunately he's a victim of his own shadow because he's been so good in the past.

We're talking about a player who came within a set of winning the French Open against Djokovic.

Now ranked 11th in the world, that's a fine achievement, but it's not good enough compared with what he's been over the last five or six years.

Whatever aspects he improves on in 2025, he needs to return more opposing first serves if he hopes to get back into the Top 5."
