Roddick warns Alcaraz: "If he doesn't feel 100% in Australia, I don't want to hear it"
Always on the lookout for the latest news in the world of tennis, Andy Roddick talks about everything in his podcast.
The American, former world number 1, talks about Carlos Alcaraz's choice of exhibition matches. He takes the opportunity to warn the Spaniard about the coming weeks.
"I don't want to shoot this guy because I love him. However, we have to tell it like it is.
Carlos played in the Davis Cup, then took a vacation in the Caribbean with friends for a week before arriving at these exhibitions.
He'd already had his time off. Honestly, when else can we criticize someone for not doing their job for a huge salary?
We're adults, it's a business and there are these opportunities that pay well. It's fine for a professional at his level to accept and go out and play.
But what I don't accept is for him to say at the Australian Open, 'I didn't have a long enough off-season, I didn't get enough rest'.
If he doesn't feel 100% in Australia, I just don't want to hear it," Roddick elaborates.
