Rublev criticizes anti-doping agency: We live in constant stress
The Sinner case has intensified the many criticisms regarding the functioning of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Many particularly disapprove of the way this organization conducts its testing.
Present in Madrid, Rublev spoke on the topic in an interview reported by the media *Tennis Up To Date*. The Russian mentioned an oversight on his part regarding a change in his schedule on one of WADA’s forms. A situation that could have turned serious if a random check had been conducted:
*"This is a problem that scares me. We have to note on a calendar where we’ll be every hour of the day. If we forget or aren’t there, it counts as one of three mistakes. It’s not fair. It makes you live in a constant state of stress. For example, yesterday I forgot to update my schedule because I arrived in Madrid. Luckily, nothing serious happened.*
*Over the years, I’ve grown wary of medication. If I feel sick, I avoid taking anything. In my case, I’m lucky to be able to consult doctors, but not everyone has that option. The doubts even extend to food—there are banned substances in meat, for example. It can drive you crazy."*
In Madrid, he will face Monfils in the second round.
