Rublev is cautious: "With me, you never know".
Andrey Rublev has regained his self-confidence thanks to his victory at the Doha tournament. Good matches have reassured the Russian.
In a statement relayed by Eurosport, he says: "I was really good mentally and I didn't let frustration get the better of me.
Every time I felt frustration coming on, I was able to do a reset and go back to being able to play again with the same intensity.
That's the most important thing."
Although reassured, Rublev is keen to remain cautious and knows that his old demons could catch up with him at any moment: "But with me, you never know.
Maybe at the next tournament, I'll start throwing everything around again. I've tried a lot of things that didn't work. I'll give it a try and see what happens.
Andrey Rublev will face Quentin Halys in Dubai in the second rotation, looking to continue his fine form.
