Tsitsipas reassures himself for his Dubai debut

Stefanos Tsitsipas made it through to the 1st round of the ATP 500 in Dubai, defeating Lorenzo Sonego in two sets and 1h37 of play (7-6, 6-3).

The match was indecisive for a while on the Dubai centre court, with Tsitsipas managing to break first, before giving it back in the next game at 4-4.

It was in the tie-break that he got the better of Sonego, before making the second break of the match at 5-3 in the second set to seal the deal.

A victory that should boost the Greek's confidence, especially after his surprising defeat by Hamad Medjedovic in Doha last week.

He will now face Karen Khachanov in the 2nd round, an opponent he enjoys playing, with eight wins from nine encounters on the circuit.
