Rune, a future Grand Slam winner?
Holger Rune is not in the form of his life.
Crowned champion at Paris-Bercy in 2022, the Dane is now a long way from achieving the level of play that enabled him to break into the world's top 5 so quickly.
Ranked 15th in the world this week, Rune hasn't really achieved any outstanding results this season.
Fortunately for him, he seems to be on the verge of a return to much better tennis, as evidenced by his fine semi-final performance in Cincinnatti this week.
Clearly feeling better about his tennis, Rune now hopes to live up to his potential and once again become a serious contender for a Major title.
On this subject, Michael Mmoh, ranked 146th in the world, recently gave his opinion, unreservedly praising the potential of the gifted 21-year-old: "To be honest, he's always been my choice, and he's a future Grand Slam champion.
He's just got that extra something. He's having a bit of trouble at the moment, with so many changes of coach.
I think he needs a bit of continuity to move forward, but he's got a lot of weapons in his game.
I wouldn't put him next to Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, but he's a talented youngster with excellent tennis."
