Rune and Humbert Make Successful Start in Shanghai
Holger Rune made his debut at the Shanghai Masters 1000 against Sebastian Baez, a player whose preferred surface is far from hard court.
Despite conceding three breaks in the match, including one right at the start, the Dane won 7-5, 6-4 and will face Ugo Humbert in the next round.
The Frenchman also won in straight sets, defeating Jordan Thompson 6-3, 7-6. He notably saved two set points on his own serve in the second set before taking control in the tie-break.
A satisfying result for Humbert, who hadn't beaten a Top 100 player in 100 days, as reported by the X account Jeu, Set et Maths.
