Rune believes he has "found the cause of his defeat" and wants to draw inspiration from a Top 5 player.

Defeated at Indian Wells by Jack Draper (6-2, 6-2), Holger Rune lost for the third time in a Masters 1000 final. The Dane did not seem capable of turning the tide during the match. He did not earn a single break point and won only 11 points on his opponent's serve.
In the press conference, the 21-year-old player reflected on this defeat. After some thought, he indicated that he had found the cause of this new disappointment:
"I have a lot to learn from today. It has been two good weeks at Indian Wells, with very tactical matches. It's obvious that I didn't play well in the final.
I talked to my coach after the match, and we quickly evaluated everything. Jack played incredible tennis, he deserved the win. He served very well, but I could have done better.
When I needed to be aggressive, I didn't do it properly. I think I played a very good tournament tactically, but today I couldn't be aggressive. That's why I lost today."
After defeating Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals, the Dane compared his match against the Russian with the one he lost against Draper in the final:
"The match against Daniil was completely different. The first thing I thought after the final was: 'Do you remember how I played in Paris 2022?' Well, that's how I want to play.
During that tournament, when I was stressed, my reaction was to go to the net more often and be more aggressive. Whereas, during the match against Draper, my reaction when I was stressed was to play three meters behind the baseline.
With a player like Jack, who is full of confidence after beating Carlos yesterday, you can't give him all that time to play. He will make you run all over the court and will be able to hit winners."
A few days before the Miami Masters, Rune wants to draw inspiration from Alcaraz to improve, even in defeat:
"Approaching Miami, I have a very clear idea of what I need to improve in my game. I need to be more aggressive. Yesterday, I watched Alcaraz play, and even though it was unfortunate for him, I liked the way he lost because he went down fighting.
He is fully committed to his game, and that's why he has four Grand Slams at just 21 years old and several M1000 titles, because he commits to his tennis. Sinner does the same. Draper too, and that's why this week went so well for him."
