Ruud defeats Cerundolo and reaches Madrid final for the first time

Ruud qualified for his first career final in Madrid by dominating Cerundolo (6-4, 7-5). He had previously eliminated Medvedev in the quarterfinals.
Despite strong aggression in his shots, the Argentine was inconsistent (27 unforced errors) and ineffective in key moments (3/18 break points). Meanwhile, the Norwegian continues his run in the Spanish capital and avenges his loss to his opponent in Miami.
The two-time Roland-Garros finalist has not dropped a single set so far in the tournament and has secured his 25th career final, his second this year after Dallas. This also marks his 3rd Masters 1000 final, his first since Monte-Carlo in 2024.
Back in the top 10, he will face the winner of the match between Musetti and Draper. If victorious, the 26-year-old will claim the biggest title of his career on the tour.
