Ruud, Defending Champion, Withdraws from Geneva Tournament
Casper Ruud has experienced some thrilling moments in recent weeks. The Norwegian claimed his first Masters 1000 title in Madrid a few days ago after defeating Jack Draper (7-5, 3-6, 6-4).
The world No. 7 then competed in Rome, reaching the quarterfinals. Unfortunately for him, he ran into the Jannik Sinner tornado, who left him with only crumbs (6-0, 6-1).
Just before Roland-Garros, Ruud was set to participate in the ATP 250 tournament in Geneva, where he is the defending champion and a three-time winner (2021, 2022, and 2024). However, following his defeat, the Norwegian, a former world No. 2, confirmed his withdrawal, opting to rest before the season’s second Grand Slam in Paris in the coming days.
With the draw already made, Taylor Fritz and Novak Djokovic are now the top two seeds. Karen Khachanov, Tomas Machac, Matteo Arnaldi, Alexei Popyrin, and Hubert Hurkacz will also be competing on Swiss clay next week.
