Ruud Dominates Bublik and Advances to the Third Round in Rome Alongside Berrettini

Casper Ruud began his Rome tournament with confidence, having triumphed in Madrid the previous week to claim his first major career title. Facing Bublik, the Norwegian took on the Kazakh for the eighth time, holding a 6-1 head-to-head record.
After a first set dominated by Ruud, Bublik fought back, showcasing remarkable efficiency in crucial moments. The world No. 76 converted 100% of his break points (2/2) to secure the second set.
Nevertheless, despite his aggressive play (48 winners in the match), the 27-year-old was outplayed by his opponent. Growing in confidence, Ruud significantly raised his level and closed out the match 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. The world No. 7 now extends his winning streak to seven matches and reaches the third round in Rome for the fifth time.
For a spot in the round of 16, he will face Berrettini, who defeated Fearnley in the previous round. The two players will meet for the first time since their 2023 United Cup clash, where the Italian emerged victorious.
